The Delaware County Market Sheep and Market Meat Goat Weigh-In was held on Saturday, April 22nd at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Manchester. In total, 80 head of market sheep and 43 head of market meat goats were tagged and identified for the 2023 Delaware County Fair by 22 sheep exhibitors and 23 meat goat exhibitors.
Market sheep and meat goat numbers have continued to stay steady and grow from year to year for Delaware County. Our 4-H and FFA programs provide many opportunities for our sheep and goat exhibitors to showcase their learning through market animals, as well as breeding animals. Exhibitors now have less than 75 days until the fair, where they will showcase their finished animal projects.
The 2023 Delaware County Fair is set for July 10th through July 16th. Both shows are scheduled for Tuesday, July 11th with the Meat Goat Show starting at 2:30 p.m. and the Sheep Show beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Reminder to all 4-H members who brought animals to the weigh-in to enter your weigh-in data in 4honline by May 15. Breeding animals also need to be identified in 4honline by May 15.
