Dubuque County Patrol Car Hit by Intoxicated Driver During Traffic Stop

A Dubuque County Sheriff’s patrol car was hit by an intoxicated driver during a traffic stop late Thursday night.
It happened north of Bernard at the intersection of Highway 151 and Twelve Mile Road around 11:30 pm. The Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was standing outside the patrol car, with the driver of the vehicle that had been stopped sitting in the patrol car. A southbound vehicle driven by 21-year old Jeffrey Ingles of Viola failed to move over to the left lane and struck the patrol car.
Both Ingles and the driver seated in the patrol car suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital. The deputy was not hurt.
Ingles has been arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Driving While Revoked and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, as well as Unsafe Approach to an Emergency Vehicle Causing Bodily Injury.
