After many years of worship, Silver Creek United Methodist Church near Masonville will hold its final service this Sunday.
Chaplain Joy Jager says it was a difficult decision to close.
Silver Creek United Methodist Church has provided many generations with memories. The church’s history goes back more than 150 years, first getting its start in the 1850’s.
Jager says now the church building will be transferred to the Silver Creek Cemetery Association, serving in the future as a chapel.
After Sunday, church memberships will be moved to United Parish in Coggon, unless church members wish to go somewhere else. Jager says she will greatly miss their small church community.
The final service at Silver Creek United Methodist Church will take place this Sunday at 1 pm, with a light lunch to follow.
