Frances Ann (Bennett) (Seelinger) Borton

Frances Ann (Bennett) (Seelinger) Borton passed away May 23, 2023, at The Katherine & Charles Hover Greenhouses in Longmont, CO. Frances was born on Dec. 11, 1930, in Beckley, WV to parents Harry and Margaret (Campbell) Bennett. She lived with her mother Margaret, MaMa Frances, and Papa Edward Campbell in Eccles where she attended grade school through 5th grade. Frances enjoyed living in and has fond and interesting memories of the Eccles Coal Camp where her family lived and worked. Frances then moved to Mullens, WV and attended 6th through 11th grade while living with her Aunt Gee (Daisy) and Uncle John Gott. To complete her senior year of high school Frances moved to Beckley, WV living with mother Margaret and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1948. Frances attended Beckley College and worked at Bell Telephone Company, performing Drafting.

Frances married Mike W. Seelinger in Hinton, WV in 1950. They lived in Beckley, WV. where their three sons were born. In 1957 the Seelinger family moved to Manchester, IA. In Manchester, Frances worked as a Teller at the First State Bank, as a clerk at the Delaware County Courthouse Treasurers office, and in clerical at Prestolite Battery. Their marriage union dissolved.

Frances married James L. Borton in 1982 and moved to Reading, PA where she worked in clerical at Community General Hospital and then Prestolite Battery. Frances and Jim moved to Salina, KS where she worked in clerical at Exide Battery. In Frances’s final years, she lived in Lyons, CO and Longmont, CO.

Frances loved cooking for her beloved family gatherings and enjoyed sharing her recipes, maybe withholding an ingredient! Frances especially loved and was proud of her grandchildren and doted on them. She gave her grandchildren many fun times and memories. She loved her many dogs in her lifetime, with her three dogs in Salina known as “The Borton Boys”. Daisy dog was special to her until her end. She was proud she got each and every job she applied for. Frances made many lifelong friends at all of her jobs and locations.

Frances is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Cathy) of Lyons, CO. Charles (Kathy) of Osceola, IA. Daughter-in-law Nanci Seelinger of Colleyville, Texas. Sister-in-law Sara Bennett of Phoenix AZ. Stepchildren April (Warren) Hawkins., Mike (Phung) Borton, Carolyn Martin, and Marilyn Kelly. She is survived by many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephews.

Frances is preceded in death by son John R. Seelinger, parents Margaret and Harry, brother H. B. “Buck” Bennett, and spouse James Borton.

Memorial service is Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 10:00 am at Central Longmont Presbyterian Church 402 Kimbark St Longmont, CO 80501. Burial for Frances and James L. Borton will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO at 2:15 pm.

Our family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to The Hover staff in Yellow Rose that have incredible spirits and cared for and loved Frances so gracefully and skillfully. You all were her favorites. Also, to Canyon Hospice for exceptional care, gentleness, and love. And to family, friends, and Central Longmont Church for prayers, caring, and love. Frances loved her Church family and enjoyed her role of ushering there. She appreciated the visits, help, and cards through the years.
