Delaware County Implementing Burn Ban Until Further Notice

A burn ban is going into effect for Delaware County.
Delaware County Emergency Management, in collaboration with all Delaware County fire chiefs, are enacting the burn ban at 3 pm today (Thursday, June 22nd).Â
Conditions are very dry due to lack of rain and there is no measurable rain in the immediate forecast. The next chance for rain arrives Saturday night. Vegetation moisture levels are such that a small spark could lead to a large wildfire.
The use of outdoor fireplaces, barbeque grills, properly supervised landfills or the burning of trash in incinerators or trash burners made of metal, concrete, masonry or heavy one-inch wire mesh (with no openings greater than one square inch) are still allowed.Â
Fireworks are also still allowed – however, if the fireworks cause a fire, criminal charges under the burn ban will apply. City and community fireworks’ celebrations are not affected.
If a person still needs to burn other than the already allowed applications, they can request a burn permit from their local fire chief.
Delaware County’s burn ban will be in effect until further notice.
