Stephen Allen Novak – Lake Delhi

Stephen Allen Novak, 72 of Lake Delhi, passed away peacefully at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
Steve was born June 11, 1951 in Cedar Rapids to Robert A and Bernadine A (Pickart) Novak. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer in South Korea during the Vietnam War and was an ardent patriot.  Steve was a motor grader operator for Delaware County secondary roads for over 28 years, retiring in 2014. He grew up in Cedar Rapids, and spent weekends and summers as a river rat on Lake Delhi. Nicknamed “Weasel†by his buddies, he could almost always be found at Freddy’s, boating or fishing, or looking for the ever elusive three toed clam. It was on one such occasion he met his future wife, Jenifer.  Steve and Jenifer were married October 20, 2006 and made their home on Lake Delhi. Steve loved collecting and putting together model construction equipment – especially German
engineered crane models. He was an avid gun collector and loved John Deere equipment. Plowing snow with his John Deere remained a favorite past time.
Survivors include his beloved wife Jenifer, step-sons Todd and Troy (Erin) Sutherland, and 4 step-grandchildren. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, brother Craig, and sister Diane.
