City of Manchester Making Changes to Potentially Vicious Dog Ordinance

As we told earlier this month, the City of Manchester is making a change to potentially vicious dog ordinance.
City Manager Tim Vick says the ordinance originally named the city manager as the one who declared a dog potentially vicious and handled any appeals – but that’s changing.
Vick says vicious dogs are not allowed in Manchester. And they’re not breed specific – it could be any breed or size.
The amendments to the City’s potentially vicious dog ordinance were discussed at a council meeting earlier this summer, but the City Council had asked for a few more details to be spelled out – such as which steps the owner needs to take if their dog is declared potentially vicious.
If the dog violates the ordinance, it could be classified as vicious and be forced to be removed from Manchester.Â
The City Council approved the first reading of the amended ordinance on Monday night. The second and third readings will need to be approved before the changes go into effect.
