Manchester Community Comes Together to Back the Blue

The Manchester community came together for a night out on Tuesday night, getting a chance to hang out with local law enforcement officers.

It was the 3rd Annual “Back the Blue” event, held in conjunction with National Night Out. Organizer Missy McIntyre says it was great to see everyone coming out to the Delaware County Fairgrounds.

“Back the Blue” is all about bringing the community together for a fun night out while also getting to know our local police officers, county deputies and state troopers.

Manchester Police Chief Jim Hauschild says he appreciates that opportunity.

And he’s proud of the crew they’ve got working at the police department, which includes a few new faces this past year.

The police officers, along with the deputies and troopers, were out talking with the public, getting dunked in the dunk tank and competing in a little arm wrestling – and participating in their annual tug-of-war game. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Schwendinger says it’s just a fun night for the local law enforcement.

Schwendinger says he and his fellow deputies appreciate the support – and they’ll continue doing their best to have your back.

Proceeds from this year’s Back the Blue will be benefiting the Manchester Police Department.
