Worthington Man Charged after Leaving Injured Person at Accident Scene

A Worthington man has been charged after leaving an injured person at an accident scene.
The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to Holy Cross Road and Prier Road just north of Farley early on Sunday morning, July 23rd for a report of a single-vehicle accident with injuries.Â
Deputies found a pickup registered to 20-year old Ryan Cook of Worthington in the ditch with heavy damage.Â
A witness had observed two males pulling a passenger from the vehicle, placing him in the ditch and then leaving on foot. The Sheriff’s Office says Cook and the other male did not attempt to help the injured passenger. The injured passenger, 21-year old Mason Recker, was later transported by EMS to a Dubuque hospital.Â
The accident caused damage to a mailbox at 11989 Holy Cross Road and a fiber box, as well as a county road sign. The vehicle was a total loss.Â
Cook was charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Injury.
