Governor’s Iowa State Fair Steer Hails from Strawberry Point

One of the highlights of the Iowa State Fair is the Governor’s Charity Steer Show – and this year, the governor’s steer came from Clayton County.

The steer belongs to Marcus Gaul of Strawberry Point – and he’s given it a unique name.

Gaul’s steer qualified for last weekend’s Governor’s Steer Show after participating in several local shows.

Over the course of its 41 years, the Governor’s Steer Show has raised nearly five million dollars for the Ronald McDonald House charities. Gaul says the charity helped one of his classmates, who was sick with leukemia.
