Nearly 200 Athletes Compete in Manchester’s Hero Hustle Triathlon

The 8th Annual Hero Hustle Triathlon was held in Manchester on Sunday morning – with cool and comfortable weather for the athletes after a week of unbearable heat.
Nearly two hundred athletes came to Schram Park to compete in a 400-yard swim, a 16-mile bike ride and a 5K run. Competitors also had the option of a duathlon, with a 400-yard run replacing the swim.
That’s Manchester City Parks and Rec Director Doug Foley, who says they love seeing everyone come out to participate and give it their all for a great cause.
Jason Engelken was the overall male winner, winning his second championship. He completed the triathlon with a time of 1 hour, 4 minutes and 45 seconds.
Elaina Biechler was the first female to finish, with a time of 1 hour, 9 minutes and 36 seconds.
The Hero Hustle is a fundraiser for our local heroes. All the proceeds go to Delaware County Public Safety, which includes fire departments, EMS and law enforcement.
The Earlville Fire Department entered as a team this year, winning 3rd place in the team category. You can find the complete race results here.
