Public Hearing Set for Manchester Airport Expansion Project

The City of Manchester has officially set a date for a public hearing on the city’s airport expansion project.
City Manager Tim Vick says the goal is to bring the Manchester Municipal Airport up to minimum standards for general aviation airport classification – which means they need to widen and lengthen the runway and get some air space. The airport runway is currently 3,465 feet long and 50 feet wide – they’d like to go 4,000 feet long and 60 feet wide. Vick says this will allow the City to be able to handle larger planes and more traffic.Â
The City has been in negotiations with impacted property owners as several parcels of land surrounding the airport are needed to make the project happen.
Residents are welcome to provide feedback on the project during the public hearing, which is scheduled for Monday, September 25th.Â
The public hearing will begin at 5 pm at the Manchester City Council Chambers. The City says letters were sent last Monday to the property owners who are impacted by the project.
