Semi Tire Damages Buchanan County Home, Authorities Seeking Driver

Buchanan County authorities are asking for the public’s help after a semi tire damaged a home on Tuesday morning.Â
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to 2352 Daniel Avenue, on the north end of the avenue where it dead-ends on the south side of Highway 20. The homeowners told authorities they heard a loud boom around 6:45 am. Shortly after, they saw a white semi-cab and grain trailer parked along eastbound Hwy 20 near the 247 mile marker (two miles east of the Jesup exit) with its traffic hazard cones out and the driver walking the ditch line. After a little while, the driver left and continued eastbound.Â
Later, the homeowners discovered that a semi tire had struck the north side of their home. Authorities say it’s probable that this tire came off of the semi that had been pulled over and that the driver very likely doesn’t know that the tire struck the home.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on the semi and its driver. Anyone with any information should call the Sheriff’s Office at (319) 334-2568.
