Three People Injured in Dubuque County Collision

Three people were injured in a collision in Dubuque County on Wednesday morning. 

The accident happened shortly before 7:30 am just northwest of Bankston at the intersection of Holy Cross Road and New Vienna Road. The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says 16-year old Jack Gaul of New Vienna was driving his pickup eastbound on New Vienna Road when he failed to obey the stop sign at the Holy Cross Road intersection. His truck was then t-boned by another pickup driven by 33-year old Zachary Roling of Holy Cross, who was traveling south on Holy Cross Road. 

Both vehicles were totaled. 

Deputies from the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, Dyersville PD, Farley EMS/Ambulance and Holy Cross and Epworth Ambulances responded to the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office says both drivers and Gaul’s passenger, 14-year old Molly Gaul, were transported to Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Gaul was cited with a stop sign violation. 

Authorities say there was very dense fog at the time of the accident, with near-zero visibility.
