Lyle Douglas “Doug” Voelker- Waterloo

Lyle Douglas “Doug” Voelker, 81, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the
Whispering Willow Assisted Living Memory Care in Fredericksburg, Iowa. Doug was born on October 24, 1941, in
Amana, the son of Casper and Alberta (Miller) Voelker. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1960.

In 1963, Doug was married to Cheryl Hartman. Three children were born to this union. Doug farmed in the
Manchester area from 1960 to 1997. He really enjoyed milking his cows and raising his purebred Yorkshire pigs.
After farming, he drove semi for a time. He then moved to Waterloo where he owned and operated Valley
Furniture until his retirement. Doug met Myrna JoAnn “Jo” Johnson and she became an important part of his life
for over twenty years.

Doug was a member of the First Lutheran Church while living in Manchester. He was also a member of the
Delaware County Dairy Council, the Iowa Holstein Association, Mid-Am, and was a 4-H leader for many years. Doug
was very proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include his three children, Corrine (fiancé Kevin Baumler) Bockenstedt of West Union, Craig (Nikki)
Voelker of Cedar Falls, and Corey (Jenne) Voelker of Manchester; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
and his sister, Julie (Pat) Neumiller of Baudette, Minnesota.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lee Voelker; his niece, Pennie Neumiller; and his partner,
Jo Johnson.
