Two people have been arrested after trespassing at a rural Independence home.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the 1900 block of Issaac Avenue last Tuesday night, September 12th around 6:30 pm.
Deputies located a vehicle, with two people inside the home.
35-year old Wendi Jo Smith of Waterloo was arrested and charged with Third Degree Burglary, Fifth Degree Theft and Interference with Official Acts, as well as possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
The Sheriff’s Office says a second individual was taken into custody, but was transferred to an area hospital after ingesting an unspecified substance.
Further charges are pending.
