Juvenile Male in Custody after West Delaware High School Threat

One person has been taken into custody after a threat of violence at West Delaware High School.

Manchester Police say on Wednesday night, they received a complaint via text message in reference to violence that would occur at the high school.

Parents were first notified when the school became aware of the situation, with a fair number of parents choosing to keep their students home from school on Thursday as a precaution. West Delaware Superintendent Dr. Kristen Rickey:

With the assistance of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations, the investigation led to a juvenile male. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Northeast Iowa Detention Center. 

Rickey says there is no longer a threat to West Delaware.
