Winthrop Driver Injured in Semi Rollover

A Winthrop driver was injured in a semi rollover on Saturday morning.

Deputies responded to a report of an accident near 280th Street and Upper Avenue around 11 am. 

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office says a semi driven by Brian Short of Winthrop was traveling northbound on Upper Avenue when the truck entered the east ditch, rolling onto its side. It’s suspected that the vehicle suffered a mechanical failure. 

Short was transported by private vehicle to the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence with minor injuries.

This accident remains under investigation.
