The Friends of Backbone Lake will be hosting their annual trail run/walk this Saturday.
The trail run/walk will take place at Backbone State Park, starting and ending at the Backbone Lake Beach House. Friends member Roger Helmrichs says the event got its start several years ago.
Whether you choose the traditional four-point-three mile path or the 10K loop around the lake, he encourages you to be prepared for the conditions – especially with this rain.
The Backbone Trail Run/Walk starts at 9 am Saturday. Registration can be done online or in-person the day of the race starting at 8 am. To sign up online, go to backbonetrailrun.weebly.com. The cost to participate is 25 dollars, with all proceeds going to the Friends of Backbone Lake.
Community members are welcome to come out and cheer on the participants. And a pair of running shoes donated by Thompson Shoes of Manchester will be given away after the race!
