Dispose Unwanted Prescription Drugs 24/7 in Delaware County

When was the last time you cleaned out your medicine cabinet?

This Saturday is the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day – a chance to get rid of any unused, unwanted or expired medications that you’ve been hanging onto.

Susie Sher is the head of the Iowa Office of Drug Control Policy. She says this day ensures the medications are properly removed.

There are national take back days every year in the spring and fall – and Sher says the results here in Iowa show the events are very successful.

To find a place to take your unneeded prescription drugs on Saturday, go online to DEAtakeback.com. There are also some 400 permanent drop off areas across the state.

Here in Delaware County, you don’t have to wait for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day to roll around. The Sheriff’s Office has a permanent drop box near their building’s front entrance where people can drop off their unused medication 24/7 year round. Brehme Drug is also a DEA registered disposal location, which allows their pharmacy to take back any prescription medication – including controlled medications. Brehme Drug is also able to provide free DisposeRx packets, which allows the patient to destroy unwanted medications at home.
