Candidate Preview – Manchester City Council Ward 1 Race

The November city and school elections are coming up next week. And in the week leading up to the election, we’ll be featuring some of the candidates running in locally contested races.

Today, we’re featuring the Manchester City Council Ward One Race between incumbent Dean Sherman and challenger Joe Dittrick.

Joe Dittrick

Dittrick is a Florida native who grew up in Manchester.

Dittrick says he was encouraged to run for the Manchester City Council by former council member Jeff Ogden, who passed away last month.

Dittrick says there are several things he’d prioritize if he’s elected to the city council.

Dean Sherman

Dittrick’s name will appear on the ballot – however, his opponent’s name will not. Due to an issue that popped up after his papers had been filed, Dean Sherman is running as a write-in candidate.

Sherman has served 24 years on the Manchester City Council after serving four years on the Parks & Rec Board.

Sherman says if he’s re-elected, he’ll continue to work hard to uncover solutions to solve some of the challenges that are ongoing – not only in Manchester, but throughout the state and the nation.

Election Day is next Tuesday, November 7th.
