State’s Corn Harvest 77% Complete

The state’s corn harvest is about three-fourths of the way done.

This week’s Iowa Crop Progress and Condition Report released by the USDA says the harvest has reached 77% complete – that’s more than a week ahead of average. The moisture content of field corn harvested for grain remained steady at 17 percent.

Meanwhile, the soybean harvest has reached 93 percent complete – also more than a week ahead of average.

Iowa Secretary of Ag Mike Naig says widespread rain fell across Iowa over several days last week and a cold blast brought the first measurable snow to northern Iowa, but he adds that the weather forecast looks drier over the next week with temperatures slowly climbing to near seasonal – which should allow farmers to a nice window to get more fieldwork done.
