Monticello Schools on Lockdown, Active Investigation Underway

All schools in the Monticello Community School District and businesses in Monticello are on lockdown this morning.

The lockdown comes following several unconfirmed reports of a shooting at or near the Monticello Fareway store. Monticello Fareway announced on their Facebook page this morning that the store is temporarily closed due to unforeseen circumstances, but have not released further details.

Monticello Police have confirmed to KMCH that there is an active investigation underway, but no further information has been released.

All school buildings in the Maquoketa Valley School District are also on a Level 1 lockdown as a precautionary measure – all exterior doors will remain locked. Maquoketa Valley Superintendent Dave Hoeger says no further information is being released at this time.

Western Dubuque schools and Ed-Co schools are also on lockdown.

KMCH has also received several unconfirmed reports of shots fired in Hopkinton, with the suspect taken into custody (photo below submitted from the alleged scene in Hopkinton). Delaware County Dispatch is not releasing any information at this time.
