Earlville Legion and Manchester Legion Riders Step Up to Help Veteran Battling Cancer

The Earlville Legion and Manchester Legion Riders have stepped up to help a veteran in need.
Legion Rider and Earlville Legion member Loras Mensen’s son-in-law has been battling cancer – and recently found out he’ll live out the rest of his life in a wheelchair. Mensen’s son-in-law, Chad McDowell, is a U.S. Army Combat engineer veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The VA was going to provide a ramp to McDowell’s house, but it needed to be able to attach to a solid deck. The current deck was in poor shape and not built to code – which meant they’d have to put on a new deck.
Mensen says that was way more than he ever hoped for.
Mensen said he was amazed by the effort his fellow Riders and Legion members put forth to help a fellow veteran – some of whom had never met his son-in-law.
