Iowa’s Harvest Nearly Wrapped Up

Iowa’s harvest is nearly wrapped up.

The USDA says the corn harvest for grain reached 94 percent statewide and the soybean harvest is nearly complete – both on pace with last year and more than a week ahead of normal.

Warm and dry weather this past week has allowed plenty of time for farmers to get fieldwork done and tackle other farm work. Farmers have also been completing fall tillage, applying fall fertilizer, baling stalks and hauling manure.

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig says warmer temperatures should hang around the rest of this week, though forecasts are showing a more active storm track as we approach Thanksgiving.
