Edgewood Says Goodbye to Welterlen Motors

One of Edgewood’s longest running businesses has closed.

Owner Tom Forkenbrock says Welterlen Motors officially closed on November 3rd.

She came out to visit Edgewood a couple months later, with the process getting underway to sell the Ford franchise back to the Ford Motor Company.

It’s the end of an era, as Welterlen Motors has served the Edgewood area community for more than a century.

Forkenbrock says he appreciates all of their customers for their business over the years, though the dealership closing means they’ll need to find someplace else to go.

He believes what led to the closure of Welterlen Motors in Edgewood could be a sign of what’s to come for other small dealerships.

Forkenbrock says he’ll still get that opportunity to directly serve the area community as he and his wife continue to operate Hill Country Convenience Store in Colesburg.

And what will happen with the Welterlen Motors property in Edgewood? Forkenbrock says everything happened so quickly that he’s not quite sure yet.
