Guttenberg Resident Recognized with Governor’s Lifesaving Award

A Guttenberg resident has been recognized with one of the Governor’s Annual Lifesaving Awards.

Caleb Crocker was working at a group home in Guttenberg for Iowans with disabilities when it caught fire last December. Iowa Public Safety Commissioner Stephne Bayens says Crocker was treated for smoke inhalation after he rescued residents.

Crocker was presented with the Lifesaving Award by Governor Kim Reynolds during a ceremony on Monday morning in the Capitol Rotunda. A man from Cylinder who rescued an elderly person from a burning home last year was also recognized with the award.
