Hinson Visits Manchester Industry to Discuss New Legislation

Congresswoman Ashley Hinson was in Manchester on Tuesday morning to tour a local industry.

Hinson toured XL Specialized Trailers to hear from their team and discuss her new legislation. On Tuesday, Hinson unveiled her Workforce Innovation and Empowerment legislative package, which is comprised of three bills that identify and address workforce gaps to help connect Iowans with career advancement opportunities and provide pathways to continued success for workers without college degrees.

The first bill, the BEST Act, provides a tax credit for employers that maintain a qualified training program for employees who are not seeking a college degree, empowering skilled workers to advance in their careers and strengthen our workforce.

The second bill, the Workforce Solutions Act, identifies barriers to new career paths in the energy and manufacturing sectors to help workers prepare to take on new opportunities in these dynamic fields.

The third bill, the REAL Trucking Act, enables 18 to 20-year-olds to obtain Commercial Drivers Licenses for interstate travel.

Congresswoman Hinson’s office says while she toured XL Specialized Trailers on Tuesday, she discussed ways to empower manufacturing workers so they can grow in their field and take on new opportunities in Iowa.
