Authorities Monitoring Roads for Drunk Drivers Over Holidays

Law enforcement is urging drivers to keep safety in mind while traveling over the holidays.

December can be a dangerous time for people on the roads. During the 2017-2021 December months, there were more than 4,500 people killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes. In December 2021 alone, just over one thousand people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes.

State Trooper Jason Solberg says the winter holiday season ushers in parties and festivities and that means more drunk drivers on the roads.

Drivers will see officers working on a special high-visibility enforcement campaign to spread the message about the dangers of drunk driving through January 1st.
