Iowa State Patrol Says Road Conditions Deteriorating, Stay Home

Authorities are asking everyone to stay home during this winter storm.

Road conditions are deteriorating across eastern Iowa, with the winds picking up and visibility decreasing. Sergeant Jon Stickney with the Iowa State Patrol checked in with KMCH early Tuesday afternoon. He said he was driving through snow drifts on Highway 20 westbound near the Highway 13 interchange.

Stickney says troopers have responded to several accidents in the area so far today.

And while Linn County is the only area county under an official tow ban, Stickney says towing is not recommended in Delaware County, along with a good portion of the state.

Meanwhile, Delaware County Engineer Rafe Koopman says their crews are not making much progress on the county’s roads today. They plan to do what they can today and then be out in full force Wednesday morning starting at 5 am.
