Blizzard Warning Now In Effect Until Saturday

The Blizzard Warning goes into effect at 5 pm, with another one to two inches of snow expected through midnight tonight – and strong winds leading to blowing and drifting snow and whiteout conditions.
Delaware County Emergency Management Coordinator Mandy Bieber says the county’s snow removal operations are being pulled off the roads for the night.
Bieber says she hasn’t heard of any major accidents or incidents in Delaware County yet today.
Heading out onto the roads during the blizzard not only puts your safety at risk, but also the safety of those who will need to come and rescue you.
Bieber says plans are in place with area communities if emergency warming shelters are needed, but so far, there haven’t been any power outages reported.
Blizzard conditions are expected through Saturday morning, but forecasters and officials are expected some improvement heading into Saturday afternoon.
The good news – there are currently no more winter storm systems forecasted to move into eastern Iowa for at least the next seven days. However, sub-zero temperatures will move in after the blizzard, with highs struggling to reach above zero on Sunday and Monday.
