Dangerous Wind Chills Move Into Eastern Iowa

The coldest air of the season has ushered in following the latest winter storm – with dangerously cold wind chills.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning until noon on Tuesday for much of eastern Iowa, including Delaware, Dubuque, Buchanan, Jones and Linn counties.

Wind chills are reaching as low as 30 to 40 below zero – that could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Forecasters say if you must be outside, make sure you wear appropriate clothing.

Temperatures are expected to start rising above zero again by Wednesday, with another shot of cold air again this weekend – and then warmer air returns next week with highs forecast to reach back in the 30’s.
