Vance Named West Delaware’s Next Superintendent

The West Delaware Community School District School Board has named Jen Vance as the district’s next superintendent.

As assistant superintendent in the Central DeWitt Community School District, Vance led a pilot program at the high school to explore competency-based education in support of career academy implementation and guided the strategic planning process for the district. Additionally, she provided support and learning opportunities for building administrators and led the district’s curriculum review committees.

Vance serves as a mentor for new administrators within the School Administrators of Iowa and was named a 2023 Central Office Administrator of the Year finalist. She holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Drake University and an advanced studies certificate from the University of Northern Iowa. Previously, Vance served as director of instruction and innovation in Central DeWitt.

Board members worked with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search. Vance interviewed with stakeholder interview groups consisting of students, parents, teachers, and community members on January 29, 2024.

Pending board approval, Vance will officially begin leading the West Delaware Community School District effective July 1, 2024. She will replace Dr. Kristen Rickey, who will be retiring at the end of the school year.
