Nominees Announced for Independence Chamber Awards

The Independence Chamber is getting ready for their annual awards banquet – and this year’s nominees have been announced.

The nominees for the Independence Chamber’s Business of the Year are 319 Social House Bowling and Bar; B & D Services; Buchanan County Health Center; Cole’s Ace Hardware; Johnson Plumbing, Heating and Cooling; Wapsie Valley Creamery; and Zach Osborne, Farm Bureau Financial. 

The Volunteer of the Year nominees are Jake Bass, Erik Bohlken, Kathy Brown, Nancy Dodge, Lynda Fiester, Deb Hanna and Don Mumm. 

The nominees for Educator of the Year are Brook Carey, Devan Cummings, Kelly Mitchell and Jami Tekippe of Independence; Jim Gieryng and Victoria Reinkoester of St. John’s; Tiffany Bowers, Kyle Fank, Nicole Reck, Mandi Smith and Lee White of East Buchanan; and Lisa Junk of St. Athanasius. 

Community voting is underway – you can submit your vote online through the Independence Chamber’s Facebook page or vote via paper ballot at the Independence Chamber office during business hours. Voting ends on Sunday. 

The Independence Chamber will present these three awards – along with the Chamber Hall of Fame Inductee – on Saturday, March 2nd at the Heartland Acres Event Center.
