Dyersville Preparing for St. Patrick’s Day Festivities

The Dyersville community is getting ready for their annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

This year’s festivities will be taking place on Saturday, March 16th.

The day will kick off with the 43rd Annual Gaelic Gallop, hosted by the Total Fitness Family Rec Center. The race will start at St. Francis Xavier School Auditorium and Gymnasium, with all ages welcome. The Leprechaun Leap is at 9:30 am – it’s a quick dash of about 50 yards for kids 6 & younger. The 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk and 8K Road Race for the more serious runners of all ages will follow at about 10 am. Online registration for the race will be available through March 4th at totalfitnessdyersville.com. You can also sign up at Total Fitness right up until the day of the race, with same day registration available too.

Other activities in the morning include the Shamrock Bike Ride at 10:30 am and the Ancient Order of Hibernians participating in a special Mass at St. Francis Xavier Basilica at 10:30 am.

The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin in downtown Dyersville at 1:30 pm. Dyersville Chamber Director Karla Thompson says parade entries are coming in, trophies have been ordered and the town is turning green!

And some of Dyersville’s bars and restaurants will be offering live music throughout the day, along with food and drink specials, with Dyersville Commercial Club Park holding their annual St. Paddy’s Day celebration into the evening.
