February is American Heart Month

February is American Heart Month – it’s a time to focus on how you can be taking better care of your heart health.
Jane Dzaboff is a cardiac nurse at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. She says heart disease is still the number one killer for Americans.
The symptoms of a heart attack aren’t always easy to recognize, but Dzaboff recommends paying attention to symptoms above the waist.
She says some people are more likely to have heart disease due to genetics – but your lifestyle actually plays a bigger role.
If you want to help increase your chances of having a healthy heart, Dzaboff says there are several things you can do – with exercise #1 on the list.
You can find more information about staying heart healthy on the American Heart Association website at heart.org.
