Rain Changing to Snow Tuesday into Wednesday

The calendar may say April, but winter’s not done just yet.

The National Weather Service says rain will be changing over to snow, overspreading eastern Iowa from northwest to southeast early this afternoon.

There is a wide range in snowfall total forecasts. Generally, one to three inches of snow is possible across eastern Iowa, with three to five inches possible in Delaware and Dubuque counties.

Snow is expected to affect the evening commute today and the morning commute tomorrow. Slushy snow is expected to accumulate on the roads, with winds gusting up to 30 to 40 miles per hour Wednesday morning.

Forecasters say the winter-like weather will be short-lived, with temperatures rebounding into the 50’s this weekend and 60’s next week.
