Manchester city officials say there is a gas main leak on East Main Street in Manchester as part of the construction project.
Crews hit a gas main on Monday afternoon in the area of East Main and Bailey Drive, where construction work has been taking place for the past few weeks.
City Manager Tim Vick says everyone is asked to avoid the area until they’re able to seal the leak off and re-open the area. The area to avoid would be one block within the East Main Street work zone.
The City has expanded the detour one block west.
Vick says they are evacuating nearby homes and businesses at this time.
