Fire Damages Dubuque County Home

Fire damaged a Dubuque County home on Tuesday night.

The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says fire departments and deputies responded to the Ronald and Mary Decker residence at 9111 Laudeville Road south of Dubuque for a report of a structure fire around 9:45 pm. 

The Decker family told authorities they had returned home to discover their house filled with smoke. The fire department was able to isolate the fire to the kitchen area and successfully extinguish the fire. 

The home and its contents sustained around $100,000 in damage. 

Fire departments from Key West, Bernard and La Motte all assisted at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office says the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, but it does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
