U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley and Democrat Senator Tina Smith of Minnesota recently penned an op-ed highlighting their efforts to make high-education more affordable for students.
Last year, Grassley partnered with Senator Smith to introduce the bi-partisan legislation.Â
KMCH News Director Janelle Tucker visited with the longtime senator about the bill during his weekly Capitol Hill Report with Iowa reporters. Grassley says he has proposed several bills on higher education costs, but this one is a little different approach.

Senator Grassley says he’s also currently working on prescription drug prices and the Farm Bill, noting that he doesn’t think they’ll get a five-year farm bill.
