MV and Ed-Co Announce Plans to Continue Sharing Superintendent

Maquoketa Valley and Ed-Co have announced plans to continue sharing a superintendent.

Superintendent Dave Hoeger is resigning at the end of the school year – and immediately after his announcement, discussions began between the two districts to find his replacement. Both districts agreed that sharing a superintendent has been a positive experience, so they plan to continue doing that.

The Maquoketa Valley and Ed-Co School Boards plan to hire Troy Osterhaus as their shared superintendent for the 2025-2026 school year. Osterhaus is currently the junior/senior high school principal for Maquoketa Valley. However, he is not available for that position until the 2025-2026 school year, so Kim Huckstadt will serve as the interim superintendent next school year.

Huckstadt currently serves as the Superintendent Certification Program Coordinator for Educational Leadership at UNI and plans to retire in June. He will begin his interim superintendent position for Maquoketa Valley and Ed-Co on July 1st.

The school board presidents for each district sent a letter to families this week to share the news.
