Severe Storms Bring Wind Damage Across Eastern Iowa

Severe storms brought damage to portions of eastern Iowa on Tuesday evening.
The National Weather Service issued numerous Severe Thunderstorm Warnings between 5 and 8 pm for the KMCH listening area, with quarter-sized hail and 70 mph wind gusts the main threats throughout the evening.Â
Several storm reports have come in, with the majority of damage reported in Buchanan and Jones counties. Buchanan County Emergency Management says they received widespread damage in their county. Assistant Director Chris Hare tells KMCH no residents have been displaced that they are aware of, but they are still assessing the damage. He says they’ll have a better feel of the extent of damages Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service received a report of a semi blown over west of Bernard, with the driver trapped. Farm buildings were reported down on multiple farms in that area, mostly to outbuildings.Â
Winds as high as 80 miles per hour were reported in Maquoketa, with large trees down.
Delaware County Emergency Management tells KMCH they received a report of a tree down on a house in Dundee.Â
Numerous power outages have been reported, as well as localized flooding.
