Flood Warning for Wapsi River Near Anamosa

A Flood Warning continues for the Wapsipinicon River near Anamosa Shaw Road until Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service says the river is expected to crest at nearly 18 feet on Wednesday evening – that’s about three and a half feet above the 14-foot flood stage. At 18 feet – which is moderate flood stage – multiple village and township roads close.

On Tuesday morning, the river was over 16 feet and rising. It’s forecasted to fall below flood stage late Friday night.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

The Flood Warning for the Wapsi River in Independence – impacting Buchanan and Linn counties – has been cancelled.
