Delaware County Historical Society Celebrates Civil War Days
History Comes to Life in Hopkinton

Delaware County residents had a chance to step back in time this past weekend in Hopkinton as the Delaware County Historical Society hosted its 3rd Annual Civil War Days.
Reenactors and living historians were walking around the old Lenox College Campus, with campsites set up depicting life during wartime in the 1800’s.Â
Nick Gross of Hazleton was one of those reenactors, portraying a Civil War surgeon.

James Hucker of the Delaware County Historical Society agrees, saying it’s important to recognize the dedication of soldiers from the county, as well as all the students who went to war from the old Lenox College in Hopkinton.

Visitors to the campus on Saturday could visit with reenactors, hear medical presentations, tour the museum buildings, watch a Civil War battle reenactment and participate in old-time games, like a pie eating contest, an egg drop and three-legged race.
