Manchester River Days

Manchester River Days is this weekend – a three-day festival that was first introduced last year.

Mayor Connie Behnken says River Days will kick off with Music on the Maquoketa tonight from 6 to 9 pm.

Chamber Director Laura Holtz says Friday night brings several events, including the Friday Night Farmers Market from 5 to 8 pm on River Street.

The Country Cruisers will host their Show & Shine on South Franklin Street on Friday from 5 to 9 pm and there will be live music from Matthew Kane and Greenbrier featuring Miranda Peyton from 6 to 9 pm – plus there’s a 5K on Friday night from 7 to 8:30 pm.

And Saturday brings a full slate of activities, starting with the Vendor Fair from 11 to 3.

There will be a pro-kayaking showcase at 1 pm and a bags tournament at 2 pm. Chamber Board member Kurt Heims says they’ll wrap up the weekend on Saturday night with a Street Party.

Mayor Behnken says it’s just a great weekend to celebrate Manchester.

Saturday’s River Runner Regatta (cardboard boat races) has been postponed due to the water moving too quickly at the Whitewater Park. The decision to postpone was made by Delaware County Emergency Management and Manchester city officials. A new date has not been set.
