Semi Carrying Cattle Crashes in Buchanan County

A Buchanan County road was closed after a semi trailer carrying cattle crashed on Monday morning.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office says they received a 911 report of an accident in the 100 block of Main Street (Otterville Boulevard) in Otterville shortly after 8:30 am.
An investigation shows a semi driven by Joseph Wenner of Comfrey, Minnesota, was traveling southeast on Otterville Boulevard when he lost control. The semi crossed over into the opposite lane and struck the east side of the bridge railing, running along the bridge rail before overturning onto its driver side in the ditch near a residential yard. The 911 call reported that some cattle were running loose as a result of the crash.
The semi was carrying just over sixty head of cattle, with one cow killed in the accident. The other cattle were loaded onto other cattle trailers and taken to an area farm to be evaluated.
Wenner was not hurt in the crash. He was later cited for failing to maintain control.
The road was closed for about four hours while the scene was cleaned up and the cattle were corralled.
