Possible Suspect Identified in Linn County Hit and Run

UPDATE from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office: “Thanks to help from the public, a possible suspect has been identified and the investigation continues.”

Original Story

Linn County authorities are looking for the driver involved in a hit-and-run accident last week.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says on Thursday night around 6 pm, a black Chevy Silverado 1500 pulling a red tandem axle utility trailer was involved in a collision in the southbound lanes of Highway 13 and Vernon Valley Drive east of Cedar Rapids.

All three occupants of the other vehicle, a Kia Optima, were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the black Chevy Silverado left the scene traveling north on Highway 13 to Cottage Grove Parkway. They did not remain at the scene to identify themselves or aid the occupants of the other vehicle.

The black Chevy Silverado received damage to the driver’s side of the truck, with parts of the vehicle recovered at the scene.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is asking this driver to contact their Detective Bureau. They also request that if any members of the public can identify the owner or driver of this vehicle, they should call their office at 319-892-6215.

The case remains under investigation.
