Larry James Lillibridge – Turkey

Larry James Lillibridge, 72, of Fethiye, Mugla, Turkey was called to his eternal home on February 1, 2024 in Turkey. Larry was born on Dec. 30, 1951 in Manchester, Iowa. He was raised on a farm near Greeley, the first child of Laurence and Helen Lillibridge. As a young man, he helped his father with farming chores and enjoyed hunting with his friends. He was a graduate of the class of 1970 at Maquoketa Valley High School. Larry enlisted in the Air Force in 1975 for 8 years. He served his country as an Air Force Chaplain. Following his military service, he was employed as a USDA inspector/contractor in civilian service overseas. He married Remziye Duran in 1984 in Turkey. He lived and retired in Turkey until his untimely death.
Larry had very strong faith. He loved his Lord, prayed often, and enjoyed reading his Bible daily. He loved to read. He was interested in classic cars and motorcycles, U.S. and world history, as well as the history of the Vietnam War, as he lost a very good friend from Oneida (Tommy Antrim) in that war. Larry always said it was because of the loss of Tommy that he joined the Air Force.
Larry is survived by his daughter Dr. Aysegul Melissa Lillibridge (Mustafa) of Turkey; his siblings Julia (Dick) Lenhart of Manchester, Carolyn Brooks of Earlville, Mary (Dan) Krogmann of Greeley, Robert (Ellen) Lillibridge of Cedar Rapids, Dean (Rowena) Lillibridge of Phoenix, Ariz., his nieces and nephews, and many more family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Remziye Lillibridge in Nov. 2022, his parents Laurence and Helen Lillibridge, his nieces Kaye Krogmann and Jeni Rose Lillibridge, and his nephew Bradley Brooks.
As it was Larry’s wish, he was buried in Izmir, Turkey near his deceased wife.
There will be a family celebration of life graveside service with military honors at the Mead Cemetery north of Manchester on Saturday, August 3 at 4 p.m.
