Slight Risk for Severe Storms Monday Afternoon into Overnight

Eastern Iowa is at risk for strong to severe thunderstorms later this afternoon into tonight.

Two rounds of storms are possible. The National Weather Service says the first round is possible later this afternoon into this evening, with the main threats including damaging winds, tornadoes, and large hail. The second round would be later tonight after 10 pm into the overnight hours, with the main threats including damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of the KMCH listening area under a Slight Risk (level 2 out of 5).

The National Weather Service says there is a chance storms may not develop – it will depend on the capping of warm air aloft.

We’ll let you know of any watches and warnings and break in with live coverage as needed.
