Some West Delaware families are getting some help today with starting off the new school year on a good note.
The West Delaware Back to School Fair is being held today. Families were asked to register earlier this summer by July 12th for their chance to receive a free backpack – and committee member Jenny Petlon says the backpacks are filled with quite a few supplies.
Families who registered for the event will be able to drive through the high school parking lot today to pick up their backpacks. This is the 21st year for the West Delaware Back to School Fair. The fair is made possible thanks to a McGee Barr grant, as well as donations from churches, businesses and individuals. Jody Doyle says they couldn’t do it without everyone’s support.
West Delaware’s first day of school is just over two weeks away on Friday, August 23rd.
